Wood Stair

About Wood Stair

Wood Stair is a stair building runner game. Your woodcutter runs through the forest on his own; you steer him into the trees, and every tree he chops gives four planks for the stack on his back. When the path ends at the water, he lays the planks down as a stair and walks across on it.

Run out of planks halfway across and he takes a fall, so the game is about steering: hit as many trees as you can, stay clear of the rocks and arrive at each climb with a full stack. Each tree you chop also pays a coin, and coins lie along the path between the trees. After the first three levels each course can come back the other way round, every fifth level is a timber rush where every tree gives double wood, and the forest changes every three levels, from Pine Valley and Maple Ridge to Snowy Peaks, Cherry Hills and Moonlit Woods. Fall, and once per level you can go back to the start of the stair with six extra planks and keep building.

Coins buy real characters to play as (Skater, Sporty, Ranger, Lifeguard, Night Shift and Zombie), outfit colours, a Start Wood upgrade that puts planks in the pack before the run, and a Coin Bonus for bigger rewards. Wood Stair works on phones, tablets and computers with no download, and your coins are shared with every other TinyJar game.

Tips

  • Small steering moves are enough; big swipes turn him sharply into rocks or slopes.
  • Collect every tree before a crossing: one tree is four planks of stair.
  • Rocks end the run, so steer around them early.
  • Buy Start Wood first; a few planks in hand make the first crossing much safer.

Frequently asked questions

Is Wood Stair free?

Yes. Wood Stair is free to play in your browser. Ads may play between levels, and an optional short ad gives you extra planks after a fall or triples your coins.

Can I play it on my phone?

Yes. It works on phones, tablets and computers in any modern browser. Steer with one finger; nothing to install.

Does my progress save?

Yes, your level, outfit and upgrades are saved in your browser. Coins are shared across all TinyJar games.

What can I buy with coins?

Six characters to play as (Skater, Sporty, Ranger, Lifeguard, Night Shift and Zombie), three outfit colours (Lumberjack, Red Check and Forest), the Start Wood upgrade (up to 12 planks at the start) and a Coin Bonus of up to +100% per level.

How many levels are there?

There is no last level. The three hand-made forest courses come back, often the other way round, in a new setting every three levels, with a timber rush every fifth level.

Why did my woodcutter fall?

He ran out of planks before the top, or hit a rock. Chop more trees before the climb, or use the extra-planks revive to go back to the start of the stair and build on.
